LANE COVE RIVER TOURIST PARK
What time can we check in, and when do we have to go?
Usual check in time for family cabins and en suite cabins are 2:00pm, check out time is 10:00am. Check out time for family and en suite cabins are particularly important so the cabins can be prepared for the next guests.
Check in time for sites is usually anytime after 10:30 am, check out time for sites is 10:00am.
We are as flexible as possible concerning late checkouts (cabins or sites) but please be aware that you may be charged a late fee if you do not check out at the allotted time or make arrangements for a late check out. Please talk to us about extending your check out time when you make your booking if it's something you need or desire.
Can we have a party here with our group?
We welcome groups and their guests. However, all groups should note there is a strict noise cut off time of 10.00 PM. Group organisers should also realise they will be held liable for their entire group and the conduct of their group. Fines may apply under the National Parks & Wildlife Act - So please ask us first and before you book to make sure this is the appropriate venue for your group.
We are a group of kids under 18 - can we just come and camp?
Sorry, we are unable to provide accommodation to minors ( people or under the age of 18). We welcome kids as long as they are under the care of a responsible adult.
We noticed that kids under a certain age are free - what if we want to bring a group of kids do we have to pay?
Our kids free policy is directly related to individual site bookings. If the kids are not part of the one family, then you will be classified as a group and pay the appropriate group rate - call us for group camping quotes.
We gave you a credit card number, have you charged it?
No, we only take a credit card number as security against your booking. If you fail to arrive without notifying us your card will be charged a cancellation fee. All payments need to be made on arrival for security of the card holder.
What is the cancellation policy?
CABINS
*Cancellation in off peak periods:
Less than 3 days notice, but more than 24 hours = $50.00
Less than 24 hours notice = Full night rate x 1 night
*Cancellation in peak periods:
Less than 7 days notice, but more than 3 days = $50.00
Less than 3 days notice, but more than 24 hours = Full night rate
Less than 24 hours notice = Full value of entire booking
GROUPS
What are the Reception Hours?
Our office is open from 7:30am to 7:00pm seven days, every day of the year. If you are arriving after 7:00pm, please use the after hours phone outside reception. Security and or management are on site 24 hours. We do not accept check ins after 10:00pm unless prior arrangements have been made.
Can we bring our dog/cat/budgie/parrot with us?
No, as the park is a National Park, the National Parks and Wildlife Act and Regulations apply. You are not permitted to have any non native pets or animals within the park.
Can we light a campfire?
No, because of the fire risks associated with areas of the Park, open fires are not permitted. There are areas of the Lane Cove National Park where you are permitted to have open fires, but the fire needs to be contained within one of the fireplaces. Ask reception for details.
Do you have a car wash facility?
No, there are a number of car washes close by. We appreciate visitors considering the conservation of water and the recognition of current Sydney water restrictions.
There are two or three groups of us camping together, is there anything we need to do/know?
Yes, the park has a very strict one car per site policy, so extra vehicles will need to be parked outside of the park. One of the reasons is to maintain the safety of all guests. Visitor parking is adjacent to the Tourist Park Office and is under surveillance 24 hours.Of course, if you book two sites you can have two cars.
You should also take into account park policy is a maximum of five people per site and a maximum of one tent per site.
If there are more than 10 of you, you will be classified as a group (in accordance with NSW National Parks and Wildlife Regulations). You may need to apply for a consent to have your group stay with us, and you will be placed on our group rate - this is a per person rate that is different from our individual site rates.
To obtain a group quote, or determine if your group requires an activity application and consent, please call our office.
Can I stay for a couple of months?
No, the Tourist Park has a maximum stay limit of 28 days per any visit.
Do you have a disabled access facility?
Yes, a disabled shower and toilet is located at amenities block number 3. Should you need this facility, please advise reception at the time of booking.
Do you have a sullage dump point?
Yes, a dump point is located within the park. Our dump point has been designed to accommodate sullage cassettes used by caravans or camper vans.
What about designated smoking areas?
There are a number of areas around the Park designated for smokers. Smoking is not permitted in cabins, amenities blocks, within the swimming pool, baby change room, or recreation room.
What are the public transport options?
The Park has a bus service that can be accessed 700 metres from reception. The Service goes to Chatswood. From there, connection to the City by either train or bus is very convenient.There is also a new train station called North Ryde which is located on Delhi Road 200 metres further away.
Can we bring a generator?
No, generators are not permitted within either the Tourist Park or the National Park.
Can we bring bikes and do you hire them?
Absolutely, we love people bringing their own bikes to ride around the park. Bike hire is available at the boatshed (about a 15 minute walk from the park along the river).
Is there any security?
Yes, the Park has a variety of security measures in place to ensure visitor safety. These include CCTV cameras at strategic locations, a twenty-four hour security service, and a number of senior personnel who have authority to issue on the spot fines under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974.
Can we buy an Annual Parks Pass.
Yes, a variety of parks passes is available at reception. If you would like more information, or would like to order your pass online. Visit the National Parks website.

Can we walk our dog in the Park?
No, as the park is a National Park, the National Parks and Wildlife Act and Regulations apply. You are not permitted to have any non native pets or animals within the park. Not even on a lease.
If we stay at Lane Cove River Tourist Caravan Park, do we need to pay a vehicle entry fee into the National Park?
No, if you are a visitor at the Tourist Park, your site fees include vehicle entry into Lane Cove National Park.
Can we fish in the River?
Yes, areas of the river are available to be fished. The river has a very strong Bass population. You will need a NSW Fisheries Licence. Check with the Park Office.
Can we canoe/boat on the river?
Yes, the river is open to all forms of non powered boating, however, size restrictions apply to some non powered vessels, and ramp entry points are limited.
Are there any walking tracks through the park?
Yes, there are a number of walking tracks and trails through the Park. Check with the office for maps and information.
Can we swim in the river?
No, swimming in the river is not recommended.
